New to Rich & Ronnie G's Trivia? Here is what to expect on your first night, and how to get the most out of the game.
Do I need to sign up ahead of time?
For our regular bar and restaurant shows, you can usually just arrive, grab a table, and sign up with the host. We recommend showing up 15-20 minutes early, especially for popular nights, so you can get seated and settled.
How much does it cost to play?
Most weekly trivia shows are free to play, with prizes provided by the venue or Rich & Ronnie G's. Some special events and fundraisers charge per person or per table to support a cause - those details will always be listed in the event description.
How many people can I have on my team?
Most venues allow up to 8 players per team for trivia. Some special tournaments or fundraisers may have specific limits, which we will promote in advance. If you are not sure, ask the host when you arrive.
What is your phone policy?
We are proudly old school: answers go on paper, not on phones. We ask that you keep phones put away while questions are active. You can absolutely check your phone between rounds, but using it to look up answers will get your team disqualified. The competition only means something if it is fair.
How long does a trivia night last?
Our standard trivia format runs about two hours from the first question to the final scores. There are short breaks between rounds for drinks, food, and bathroom runs.
What kinds of questions do you ask?
Each show uses a six-round format with a mix of general knowledge, pop culture, history, music, sports, picture rounds, and themed categories. We build nights so that different players on your team can shine, not just one trivia expert who knows everything.
What are Lightning Rounds?
After most standard rounds, we run a fast-paced Lightning Round where one player from each team can come up, buzz in the fastest, and answer bonus questions. Get it right quickly for extra points - miss it, and you might lose a few. Lightning Rounds count toward your total score and can swing the night.
Do we have to play every week for the league?
No. There is no minimum attendance for the Trivia League. Your team earns points whenever you play, and only your best score from each week counts toward your seasonal total. If you skip a week, you are just missing out on a chance to improve your standings, not getting penalized.
How do we make sure our league points stay together?
Your points follow your team name. Try to keep your name consistent from week to week, especially across different venues. If you accidentally change it or need to clean up a spelling, talk to us after the show and we will do our best to fix it in the standings.
Are kids allowed to play?
That depends on the venue. Some locations are 21+ only, while others allow families earlier in the evening. If you plan to bring younger players, check with the venue directly about their policy - they have the final say.
What do winners get?
Weekly shows usually award prizes like gift cards or merch to the top teams. In the Trivia League, seasonal champions also earn a spot in our trophy, along with prizes and bragging rights that last until the next quarter.
Thinking about hosting Rich & Ronnie G's Trivia at your bar, restaurant, club, or event space? Here are answers to the questions we hear most often.
What does a typical trivia night look like at our venue?
We run a two-hour, fully produced trivia show with six rounds, a Final Wager, and optional Lightning Rounds. Players sit at tables, submit answer sheets, and follow along on your TVs/screens while Rich hosts on the mic and Ronnie runs scoring, music, and visuals from the booth.
How does trivia help my business?
Weekly trivia encourages repeat visits, larger groups, and longer stays. Many teams build a habit of coming back on the same night each week, often arriving early for dinner and staying through the end of the show. A good trivia night can anchor a slow midweek evening and turn it into one of your strongest nights.
What do we need to provide for a show?
You provide the space, staff, and a way for us to plug into your A/V system (or set up our own if needed). We bring the content, graphics, music, and hosting. Before your first show, we will talk through your layout, TVs, audio system, and any special needs so there are no surprises on night one.
Can you work with our existing TVs and sound system?
In most cases, yes. We regularly integrate with house systems at bars, restaurants, and clubs. If your setup is unusual, we can schedule a quick A/V walkthrough ahead of your first event to make sure everything connects smoothly.
How far in advance should we book?
For weekly shows, we recommend talking at least a few weeks ahead so we can line up promotion and get you on our calendar. For private events and fundraisers, earlier is always better, especially for Thursday–Saturday dates.
Do you only do weekly shows, or can we book one-off events?
We do both. Some venues bring us in for weekly or biweekly trivia, while others host occasional special events, fundraisers, or member nights. We are happy to help you decide what makes the most sense for your space and audience.
Can we customize categories or themes?
Yes. For private events and fundraisers, we can include custom categories about your organization or event theme. For weekly shows, we set the mix of topics, but can occasionally line up themed nights (decades, holidays, specific fandoms, etc.) in advance so you can promote them.
How do you handle promotion?
We promote your shows on our social channels and include your venue in our weekly schedule posts and league updates. We encourage venues to promote as well on their own social media, website, and in-house signage. We can provide graphics and copy to make that easy for your team.
Can trivia nights be used as fundraisers?
Absolutely. We have a full fundraiser trivia format that includes flexible round counts, optional sponsors, raffles, and ticketed tables. If you are a venue partnering with a nonprofit group, we can structure the night so it benefits both the cause and your business.
How do we get started?
The easiest first step is to contact us with your venue name, location, preferred night of the week, and what you are hoping trivia will do for your business. From there, we will schedule a quick call or visit to map out format, timing, and A/V needs.
